A Dozen Goals in 7 Wins: Duran’s Impact in Yellow

Colombian striker Jhon Durán played a key role in seven domestic and continental victories for Al Nassr before being loaned out on Sunday to Fenerbahçe for one season.

Durán scored 12 goals in 18 appearances for the Saudi side, helping the team win five matches in the Saudi Pro League and two in the AFC Champions League Elite.

During his time with Al Nassr, Durán recorded five braces, scoring twice in matches against Al-Fayha, Al-Ahli, Al-Okhdood, Esteghlal Tehran (Iran), and Yokohama F. Marinos (Japan). He also netted once against Al-Kholood and once against Al-Khaleej.

None of Durán’s dozen goals came from penalties. He scored six with his powerful left foot, five with his right, and one with a header.

Al Nassr signed Durán on a five-and-a-half-year deal after purchasing his contract from Aston Villa (England) during the last winter transfer window. However, after just five months, the Colombian international moved on loan to Fenerbahçe, where he will now play under the leadership of Portuguese coach José Mourinho and alongside Brazilian striker Anderson Talisca, a former Al Nassr star.

Against Saudi Arabia’s other “Big Four” clubs, Durán played two matches against Al-Ahli and Al-Hilal. He scored two goals in the Al-Ahli match, leading his team to a 3–1 victory, but missed the clash against Al-Ittihad due to suspension after receiving four yellow cards.
