Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to attend the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final, scheduled for next Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The announcement came during a Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday.
This edition marks the expanded format of the Club World Cup, featuring top club teams from around the globe. The tournament serves as a major test event ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, featuring 48 teams for the first time in the competition’s history.
Catalan newspaper *Mundo Deportivo* reported Trump telling journalists, *"I’ll be at the match,"* held at MetLife Stadium—the same venue slated to host the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
His remarks followed FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s announcement of a new FIFA representative office in Trump Tower, just one day prior. This addition complements FIFA’s existing offices in Miami, which house the legal, compliance, and operational teams for the 2025 Club World Cup and 2026 World Cup.
Infantino stated, *"FIFA is a global organization, and to achieve true global reach, we must have a local presence everywhere. That’s why we’re establishing offices in New York—not just for this year’s Club World Cup, but also for next year’s World Cup."*
He added, *"Today, we’re opening a FIFA office in Trump Tower. Thank you, Mr. Trump, and thank you to everyone involved. Of course, special thanks to the President, a devoted football enthusiast, along with his entire family. We’ve received tremendous support from the White House and the administration for this tournament."*
