For the First Time: An African Team Surpasses Germany and Climbs the World Rankings

An African team has made a significant leap in the FIFA monthly rankings thanks to two important victories during the June international break. The team defeated Tunisia, ranked 49th globally, and Benin, ranked 95th.

This achievement propelled the team to 11th place in the world, moving up one spot and surpassing Germany for the first time in history. Germany dropped to 12th place following defeats against Portugal and France in the UEFA Nations League.

The African team is now just four points away from 10th place and nine points away from 9th.

It is worth noting that 11th place represents the team’s best-ever FIFA ranking, first achieved in 2023 following their successful participation in the Qatar World Cup. Morocco had previously been placed 10th in some international media rankings, but that position was not officially recognized by FIFA.

Do you know which team this is?
